A first school in Redditch is celebrating after being rated 'good' in its latest Ofsted report.

Arrow Valley First School, which is located on Colts Lane, has been described as 'good' in all areas in its first report since joining the Central Region Schools Trust.

The report found the school has implemented an "ambitious" trust-wide curriculum and has "successfully prioritised raising standards in reading, writing and mathematics including for disadvantaged pupils".

Principal of Arrow Valley First School Sarah Allen said: "It's wonderful to receive confirmation in this report that the positive steps taken at Arrow Valley are helping us deliver the best outcomes and opportunities for our staff, pupils and families.

"I am particularly proud of the fact that it spotlights how our pupils are flourishing not only academically but also emotionally enabling them to grow into the community leaders of the future.

"I would like to express my thanks to all the parents, carers and families in the Arrow Valley community. Their engagement and cooperation has been pivotal in delivering the transformation highlighted in the report allowing us to give our pupils every opportunity to thrive."

Inspectors particularly praised reading and phonics as areas of strength with the children quickly learning to read as soon as they join reception.

There was also praise for the high standards of behaviour and the staff's ability to encourage development beyond the classroom including swimming lessons and school trips to the local country park.

The report went on to highlight the adaptations for pupils with SEND to help them achieve the learning objectives set for all pupils and said staff are on hand to help "seek additional external support and provisions that many pupils still require".

"I know staff at the school remain steadfast in their determination to provide the best for pupils and their families and that the Central Region Schools Trust will continue to support this positive trajectory."

The report also praised the values of leadership and respect taught to students, the way students embody the school's 'Valley Values' and the love that staff members have for their job and working with the students.
